My son has a 91 Colt with the 1.5, 4 speed. He wants a bigger engine in the car. Since it would be easier for me to get involved in the beginning rather than the middle, I thought I would look for some help. What other engines fit in the car with a minimum of hassle. I don't want to change transmissions, radiators, etc if possible. Any ideas?

Well, if you don't want to change anything else you'd probably be limited to only upgrading to the 1.8L. However, one you have the engine out replacing the other stuff is simple. For more ideas I'd goto:

I thought it was possible to use the 2.0L engine with the original transmission? Just not the best route because of limited aftermarket clutch support.

If you can't use that combination, maybe look into importing one of the MIVEC engines to use.

yah you can definitely use the KM201 tranny, just dont expect it to last very long with 200+HP in front of it.

I'm selling a 4g61 (1.6turbo) w/ tranny.
