just got a carb'd c10 for a winter vehicle. Im wondering if im asking for trouble with a carburated engine in the middle of the canadian prairies in the winter (meaning that temps get to -40deg Celcius or more in january!!!!). Anybody have any experience driving these things in the cold, or rather..starting them in the cold. Anything special i gotta do (pump the gas twice, say 2 hail mary's etc :p)

thanks

I have a carbed mighty max that I drive in the winter in alberta and it is fine. Remember to plug it in when cold and run the appropriate oil viscosity. I pump the gas once about half throttle. Starts right up, has a nice high idle that will run till it gets to a certain temperature then kicks down. I found with my truck that if I pumped it to the floor the high idle would not work. Last of all my carb LOVES red line fuel system cleaner. Like 60 more kms out of a tank. Good look.

hey thanks bud, thats pretty much what i wanted to know.
One more question thou (for you and any other canucks reading), if you dont mind. When you go to get parts for it from like Canadian Tire or Partsource, and they ask you make/model of the car, what do you tell em? Im having a devil of a time matching anything up in their database with what ive got. Searched for Eagle Vista, Dodge Colt, but each came up a little more different that the other...

thanks
