Post subject:  OMFG WTF DID I DO WRONG!

ok heres my problem, i found a burnt valve and replaced it, then got a head gastket, torqed it all down correctly( 55 bls), gastket sealed the intake, and exuast, correctly did the timeing, put the spark plugs in the right order of 1342, made sure all hoses and wires where in thier places, go to turn it over, and no go. not even like combustion in a few cylnders like, before. i'm serously so f***ing tyred of my car. what am i doing wrong, there is no compression in the cylnders. ... the fuel is good and so are the injectors, and replaced spark plugs and wires and fired them to check if they where good. SOMONE PLEASE HELP ME! its a 12 v 1.5L colt

did you go in the right order to torqe the head bolts if you did not do it in the right order you can warp the head if i'm not mistaken

so you did a compression test and there is no compression?

maybe you did the timing wrong? there are two sets of markings on the cam gears.. make sure you are lining up the right set of markings.

or maybe your rings are gone? how low is no compression? what did your tester say?

Zero compression across all cylinders sounds to me like you messed up the timing belt install badly. Recheck, else lift the head again and work out what you did wrong. Make sure everything turns over before putting it all back together again.

yes.
... i'm ganna try to do my valve stems... well check them. but i didnt move them... is there any way to test my piston rings?

the cam turns the rockers and everything... theres only one mark on the cam, and one on the crank thats marked o n the plastic piece cover.

also feel good in the fact that you can probly pick up another csm for an average price of $300 if you cant figure the problem!

The best way to get 0 compression across the board or even just the cylinder you were replacing valves for, is to not check the valve lash after getting the valves lapped/ground including the tip for the rocker area. The motor sure spins fast when that happens. Your valves are almost guaranteed hanging open right now! :wink: ... it doesn't take much at that speed to allow all the pressure to blow right on by.

Just remove the rocker cover and rotate the crank until you cam has come off the lobe for the intended valve/spring combo and check for free play. If you can't move the rocker such that it clicks or so that you can fit a feeler gauge in to spec you probably have direct contact all the time and actual pressure keeping the valve open. Back off the adjuster nut (12mm) and adjust you valve (intake to intake spec, exhaust to exhaust spec) to cold specifications and then tighten the nut while holding your flat head screwdriver absolutely still - recheck the contact and adjust as necessary.

New valves are guaranteed longer than used ones would be - reason being that the valve face wears and so does the contact tip on the top of the stem. It doesn't take much to hang that valve open.

See if this makes a difference, it happened to me and I thought it wasn't going to make that much difference when the exhaust valves were done - wrong! :twisted:
