here's my situation. Just picked up a 90 Mirage 4 dr in really good shape off Ebay. 1.5 auto with 130K. Was advertised as won't start but sounds like it wants to. So I bid thinking it is a bad ECU. Replace plugs, wire, cap, rotor. Try starting it up and it wants to go but just won't take off. I am getting no CEL and it is getting gas and spark. So I pull the ECU and it looks good. Pull the ECU from my 89 and slap it in and same thing. So I am at a loss. Thinking it may be the timing belt. How do I know if the belt has slipped? I f I don't get this thing running I won't lose any sleep over it I paid like 80 bucks for it. |

To check timing, pull off the top timing belt cover, align the timing mark on the camshaft with the marker on the head and check that the timing mark on the crank pulley is showing very close to TDC. A jumped belt will be a fair way off. |
