Colt-r, that dyno plot was generated artificially correct? If not I'd like to see the 4G15 that revs to 10k rpm! :o
Yeah its a simulation. No you cant rev one to 10k. :( The sim just generates data until data points go to zero. You have to already have an idea of the useful rpm range. I could have instructed it to cut off at say 8k or 5k. The sim isnt an exact Dyno result, its dependent on the information supplied by the user. Some educated guess work is involved. The software creator claims accuracy to 5%.
If anyone has all the engine specs for the 4g15 8 and 12 valve engines, i could make a pretty accurate dyno spec. I need cam lift, combustion chamber volumes, intake and exhaust timing events, flow data(not as neccessary)etc.etc. The software makes its own guesses on cam profiles and such. It gets in the ball park but could me more accurate. My cheesy hanes manual barely tells tune up specs. :(

Hey VWDSMGUY, Did your '89 Mirage have the 4G63 or 4G61 engine. Damn good for G63, but much more for G61.

There's no combustion chamber volumes or cam lift specs in the factory manuals, but here's something at least.

Been running with 9* retard on the cam timing for awhile now. No noticeable difference in mileage. I think about 5* retard would be preferable. Without a adjustable cam gear though, 9* is better than stock! Bottom end suffers a little but having this little motor pull hard to redline is great! Power peaks about 6800rpm. 5* timing should shift the powerband back a little. I generally shift out of gears at higher rpm now due to the new power band. Takes getting used to. Car is definately faster though. Anyone else try this please post and let me know their results.

I'm going to do this, but might change the cam belt at the same time (got 20kmiles on it). I got a spare cam pulley from scrap(junk) yard, I'm going to drill a new hole for the little dowel pin thing. I'll put it opposite the old one, and make it about 5 degrees retard.

The green bit on this picture should be the right place I think for retarded camshaft.http://members.madasafish.com/~pumaproton/cam/
Can someone just confirm that I have it in the right place, I don't want to ruin it all :) I'll draw it a lot neater and do it on a pillar drill.

This is the manifold I have made for my 4G63 Lancer.
It hasn't been installed as yet, but will be dynoed once it has been (in a month or so)

I just installed my modified cam pulley. Its amazing now, car pulls really hard all the way with no noticable drop in power on the bottom of the rev range either. I set mine to about 5 degrees.
Photos

It's been the best modification I've done so far.

Really need that weber and exhaust headers now :)[/url]

Really does bring it alive doesnt it? :D Thanx for the pics and diagram pumaproton! As soon as i get a another cam gear or a nice weekend, i'm drilling mine! I was looking at the 8valve cam gear and its a cast piece, not stamped steel like ours. Looks as though you could put it on backwards. If it is, i suppose you would have a dual purpose cam. Switch it around for 5* advance. hmm.
Doesnt appear on simulator though that advanceing would gain much benefit.

I didn't know 8 valves have got cast cam pulleys.

I changed mine by taking off the plastic cam cover and sliding off the old and sliding in the new. Took about 10 minutes, checking about 10 times I got it lined up all right :) Didn't want to knock the piston to a valve.

One interestting thing is, it seems to sound different, more like a sports car but it may be that I'm sitting higher up in the rev range so often.
