Post subject:  89 AWD Wagon 4g61t swap (info gathering post)

Ok guys... we just picked up the '89 AWD wagon colt. I'll post pix soon.

I am going to start sucking in information for swapping the 4g37(?) engine out for a 4g6xt series.

Once this is all gathered, it will be archived. This may take a while because we didn't exactly buy this one to swap, but the conditions seem to be right. AKA we will be going slow.

Info from kjmerkel69:

Right now, it should have a 4g37 SOHC w/o balance shafts and KM 221 transmission which is similar to the W53x series. The Galant VR4 has the same final drive ratio, so if you have the want or need to upgrade that may be a direct swap if the mounts line up.

Front end suspension is standard C10, just up a little higher. Rear end is a solid live axle, coil spring/four-link trailing arm design with a Panhard locating bar.

I think either drcolt2000 or chdesign would be able to sort out the engine end of it.

The stock clutch is 216mm, the same diameter as a 1g-2g NT DSM 4g63. Not sure if the flywheel dia. is the same, or if an AWD flywheel is different altogether.

If I think of more I'll throw it in.

please email me some pics of the wagon, and of the wagons rear suspension and dif section.
Also maybe even the entire undercarriage, I am curious as to how they fit the driveshaft.

Thanks

thanx for the pics.

The rear on that colt is definitely different, it ain't like the talon, or the galant, or even the same year colt vista ugly wagon.

At least its a very good base for a 4g63 transplant. The rear drums may be a bitch to convert to disks.
That model colt is definetely a black sheep.

Is it an all time awd, no selection for fwd or awd?

Full-time AWD. The trans and x-case are identical at least in operation as the Galant or DSM families.

In the service book it shows repair info for a rear disc brake setup, though I imagine I have the more common setup.

This wagon was marketed worldwide as a Lancer. Maybe it is possible to locate parts overseas?

Kyle, i bet anything for any of the csm's can be found overseas!!
It is us the north americans who get delt the crappy hand when it comes to cars.

Anything you want can be acquired, everything has a price.

Post subject:  C11V

It's a C11V if I'm not mistaken.

For Proton Saga however, common facelifts are from C11 and C12. Kinda trend nowadays albeit its scarce resources from Japan.

And common engine swaps are from 4G91/92/93 and 4G61/63/67 series.

There are few breeds who swapped in 4A-GZEs and B16As too though.

The C37V must be the 4WD variant, then.

I believe so.
The last breed?

From C10 ends at C37?
