I have a 1985 mitsu mirage turbo 1.6 and it started acting up today it sounds like the idle is pulseing up and down and then it revs to about 5 thousand rpms then goes back down and up does anybody know what it could be i need help thanks

Sounds like a typical bad ISC (idle speed control servo) or a good vac leak. Or both. Revving to 5k is quite odd though. Pressure check for any leaks and test the ISC with a meter when its hot.

it has gottin worse sinca yesterday now you start it and it goes full throttle and its not the throttle cable its fine i have no idea what it can be i cant start the car to test anything it revs to high

If you remove the intake pipe, does the throttle butterfly stick open more than usual? Can you remove the IAC (Intake Air Controller) solenoid, assuming it has one.

If the engine in the car isnt bad I might be interested in buying it.

how much are you willing to pay for the car it has got a great engine and trannny the body is good as well as the interior its fast as hell too good tires on it needs an exhaust it has one but it sounds qiut to qiut i think its all there all but a front headlight shroud

When the throttle position sensor on my 84 turbo went bad it did the same thing. It would go around 70 MPH without touching the gas pedal. It would idle a little but as soon as the throttle body opened a crack it would suck open and rev up, but it didn't over rev on it own. Greg
