Hello!
Need help/advice on my 86 turbo. I still have problem of trans disengaging (3rd,4th or 5th) when going uphill only at around 3k rpm.
On flat/downhill it does not happen. Linkage has no play and looks solid. Tranny has been rebuilt and only thing I havent replaced is the actuator (md714392). Could this be the problem? Does anyone know where I can get this?
Thank you!

It looks to me like that actuator is for 5th and reverse. Is that correct?

Is your shifter cable operated, or is there a shift rod? If there's a rod, make sure the support rod is intact, or the tourque from the engine can pull your transmission out of gear.

Actuator is for 5th.

I get 5th gear. It is a shift rod and support is intact. It only happens on uphill. I step on gas and rev it
up and if it is flat, will not disengage. But going uphill, at arnd 3k rpm it dis engages and when I release on gas it goes back to gear. While it is doing it, the gear lever does not move and stays in gear.
??!!

is the vacuum check valve that feeds the booster and the 5th gear actuator working cause my cars went bad and the same thing was happening. the valve is just off the intake by the thermostat housing

take it off and blow through it. It should let air through one way and not the other and to be honest i doubt the dealer would have that but idk. its just a check valve. also it should be oriented so that it will only let air into the intake and not let it into the booster/ vacuum canister

IT WORKED!
Thank you!

I got a check valve from an Audi, same size.

Now at full load (turbo boost gauge at max) there is a split second hesitation between 2500 to
3500 rpm which is more noticeable in 3rd, 4th or 5th. It feels like gas starvation.
Any suggestions?

Thank you again!! :D :D
