I have been searching this site and others only to fine no real details on what is involved and needed for this swap. If someone could just point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. My email is jaiharen@gmail.com Thanks for the help! |

Thanks that helps alot! I was just wondering with the motor mounts. I have the g32t and in the post it talks about this going into a g15. Is there any difference in the mounts I need to use or can I use the same mounts that they used to put it into the g15 car? |

Yes use the same mounts. The mounts match the engine, where they bolt onto the car is the same. |

Ok just so I have all this clear and so that I can get started gathering all the parts lol I need: 1) 89 colt gt driver side axle(slides into hub) 2)92 eclipse gsx input shaft(driver side intermediate shaft, slides into tranny and connects to axle) 3)stock 2nd gen non-turbo csm passenger side axle 4)stock 2nd gen non-turbo csm front motor mount 5)94 elantra 1.8l timing side (driver side) motor mount 6)94 elantra 1.8l rear mount w/motor bracket lol now a couple questions. For item #2 I have a 92 galant vr4 which the motor is coming from. Can I use this input shaft instead of an eclipses? I was thinking it should work because its a 92 awd dsm but I wanted to double check. Items #3 and #4 the vehicle which is receiving the 4g63 is a 87 mirage turbo it has the g32t in it. I was wondering if I could use the turbo axle and turbo front mount instead of the non-turbo g15b? Finally Item #6 I havent taken a look at this mount yet so I am not sure what everything looks like so could you describe what the motor bracket is? that goes with the rear mount? Also it didn't say too much about electrical I was wondering if there is going to be any problems that I might want run into? I am trying to get everything ready so I can bust it out in a weekend. Thanks for the help!! |

I am going to start looking for a 1st gen dsm FWD tranny. Is there any differences? I am looking for one with an LSD if it's available. The 4g63 from my vr4 has about 20k on a rebuild and it was making 379AWHP @ 24psi. What tranny would you suggest I go with? |

the swap is very easy fwd eng mount you can use the stock one but remember to trasnfer the eng mount bracket from the g32b to the 4g63t side and rear mount elantra 1.8 93-95 right axle u can use the stock one left axle either cms 91 or elantra 93-95 about the tranny you better use one from eclipse turbo 1989- may 1993, is not worthy use the stock tranny from the mirage, it will hold the eng, btw the half shaft wont fit so dont even try the oil pan is on the way,,,, also unless you find a mirage turbo 1989 tranny mount bracet you will have to fabricate one about the wire harness? every thing you need is behind the heater core,,, i have the wiring diagrams if u need them, make sure if get a harness from a ECLIPSE TURBO up to may 1993 hope this info help |

You can use the stock (87/88 g32b) driver's side half shaft if you get the correct DSM AWD intermediate shaft for your engine, and do the double seal trick on the tranny. This gives you equal length axles. I too used miragesist's wiring information when I did my wiring. |

What is the double seal trick? It sounds self explanitory but I just want to make sure I get it right lolI too used miragesist's wiring information when I did my wiring. Also miragesist anything you could provide me that would help would be great. My email address is jaiharen@gmail.com Thanks again for all the help guys! |

Quote: AWD DSM intermediate shafts don't have that ring on them that fits up against the axle seal. You can still use an AWD DSM shaft on a FWD CSM swap though, you just have to mod an axle seal to work with it. I just take RTV and glue an AWD seal over the FWD seal. Let it sit over night and gently tap it in and it works perfect. If you try to use a FWD seal with the AWD intermediate shaft it will leak.
![]() ![]() The pictures above where taken from this thread -> http://www.4g61t.org/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 40#p278940 He talks about cutting the intermediate shaft in order for it to fit. I didn't have to do that. I have a 3gen 91 Summit with an 6bolt 4g63t and a fwd transmission. I used a 91 DSM AWD 5 spd intermediate shaft, and the 2gen 88 Turbo Colt equal length passenger/drives side axles. I did not use two seal and my tranny seeps gear oil. Your 2 gen 4g63t swap should be similar if not identical to what I did with my axles. This is how an 1ga DSM AWD intermediate shaft bolts on to the 6 bolt 4g63 block. Take note of the nut used here as a spacer in place of the A/C compressor bracket, and the use of a washer on the other bolt. ![]() There are also posible issues with the type of DSM AWD Intermediate Shafts to use.
