why is my car running rich it seems to be dumping way to much gas?

Bad injector, boost leak, and dirty air filter are the cheap causes. Could also be an ECU, o2 sensor or FPR issue. Gas smell from the exhaust could also mean a bad cat.

were can i buy a new cat this exhaust has a pre cat right after the turbo then it has a cat then it looks to be a resinator then a muffler what would be the cheapest way to get this thing thru emissions i really need to get her on the road to get to work thanx

Easiest and cheapest thing to do is measure your pipe diameter, get a universal cat that size, and pay someone to weld it on. I don't know how much you Zonies are cracking down on emissions but just cut out the pre-cat if you can.

Well new what exactly? It could be anything from bad cats, egr valve, bad vacuum lines, burning oil from bad rings or valve seals. There is a federal program in place that can help pay to fix a car not passing smog. Ask your local shop.

Don't mind me asking however is it giving ant service engine codes?

When was the last time you replaced the o2 sensor if it wasn't included inthe "Everything is New" you speak of. Was it a OEM replacement or a universal. What brand was it as well. How does the car drive and respond under boosted conditions or non.

the car runs like a top and the 02 is oem replacement it has new plugs wires cap rotor new timing belt gears it has plenty of compression does not smoke at all if you smell the exhaust it smells clean the car is very responsive as for power it flys and there are no miss fires or back fires the injectors are in good condition just had them checked the oil is about 2 months old and its still clean the only thing left to do is the cats but the nox are so low they said my cat is working someone said that it could be the mass air flow thing at the passenger side of the car so i had it checked its working this car has got me by the you know what could it be the muffler or the resinator ? who knows well if you could help please feel free i would grately apprieate it thanx

how do you get the codes off this car i dont even know?

i put it threw emissions twice and it failed boyh times the numbers are triple what there suposed to be

on what?? what were the readings... by getting thre readings we can start to figure out what might be wrong..

Was the HC, C0, And NOX all high?? or just one or the other??

I put a new exhaust system on it and it passed i guess the whole exhaust was gutted from the turbo it runs great now i love this car has all the power i need and it handles great i made a mistake letting my girl drive it and she loves the power of it

Had I seen this post earlier, I would have mentioned to just bite the bullet and get a new high flow cat. Sometimes with a new 02 sensor, it can improve some emission numbers but worsen the others. An existing cat wont be able to keep up and do its job if its been polluted thru its lifetime. Good to hear you figured it out.
