the thing is perfect , minus alittle paint fade. But one of the ring landings on one pistion is gone and iv started on fixing it. Hears the deal, Im realy into import racing and have a 94 honda delsol thats getting forced inducted. I found this colt at the local performace shop and bought it for four hundred bones to fix up and use as a daly driver. As i started to look on the web on how to do a little performanc dabaling to it, I started to realize that this basterd was really rare and had a huge cult folowing. So now I really want to drop a 4g63t in this thing but iv been looking for spasific info on the swap and cant find much.

So if anyone knows anything on how to swap the 4g63t into an 88 colt 4 door with the g32bt, LET ME KNOW! I want to do It this month!!

Thanks for your help!

sorry, im long winded, ill keep it down in the future..

Hmm, I thought only the hatchback got the G32b? But than again I'm still pretty new to the whole Colt thing myself. As far as I know, no one's put a 4g63 into a C-10 Colt yet. I'm sure it can be done though. And, just to make things a bit easier, I'll go ahead and answer your other question here too. Yes, it's pretty easy to swap from automatic to manual, especially if you're already doing the motor swap at the same time (which I'd very much recommend) Uhh, you'll have to get the parts from another C-10 Colt I think. Shouldn't be too difficult to find one in a junkyard (a non-turbo will work fine for the shifter, cables, master cyl, lines, blah, blah...)

Someone dropped a 4g61 into a C10. It's on this board somewhere with pics, probably in General Discussion.

Ummm... I think only Turbos came with the hydraulic clutch. I know my '87 1.5 had a cable, and my '87 turbo had a hydraulic system which I salvaged.

Kain: yup, the 4 door was offered with the turbo engine as well, I know this for a fact, since it was a 4 door model that I got mine from.

As far as the swapping of the engine and transmission go; I do believe it would be easier to use a transmission from the same generation colt, i.e; one from a c-10 body style. I'm no expert though. I do know that the 4g63t engine will bolt to the same transmission, though the clutch/flywheel, starter, etc. are a bit sketchy in my mind....

Fished out of my bookmarks...

Here's a site of someone who has or is doing that swap... No info though...
http://www.coltco.nl/projcars.htm

And here's a photo that proves it can be done, also no info:

I'd just like to say that your car will make an awesome sleeper if you did this. Seen any done 2G sedans lately? I haven't. Sleepers rule. :D

ive got a 4door and a hatch g32b colt

It cant be that hard to do the swap, i was looking at both my colts again today, c50 4g61t and c10 g32b, and the drop in is most likely a no hassle deal.

The most time consuming part will be the wiring harness swap.

If i werent concentrating on my c50 this year, the c10 would be undergoing the 4g63 swap.

my c10 hatch weighed in at 2250lbs at the local wreckers/scrap metal yard, full interior and no stereo an no driver, g32b motor. So swap in a 4g63 which might only weigh at the most 150lbs more than the g32b, so about 2400lbs after the swap.

It is light, but it still does have some weight for a sport compact when compared to the suzuki swift, honda civic and dodge omni glh.

I will get my c50 weighed this summer.
