Found the KNOCK, it seems to be some grime got in the cams and destroyed the cam.
So what can be done, there's light scratches on the cam caps and little grooves in the head....

Find one at the junkyard and grab the cam and associated hardware, labling everything. or just grab another head.

Also you shouldnt be getting grime if the oil is clean and you have a new filter. If I was you I'd also drop the pan to see if there is any other grime buildup that might get sucked up past a full filter. Use purlator, valvoline, or mobile 1, as they won't let stuff go by and they arent assembled with glue like the base frams and some oem frams.

They are a lot less rare than the 89 turbos and gvr4's, but If you do buy a head don't pay $200 for it. I'm sure there are lots of people out there with the head. make sure not to reuse your head gasket and bolts though. Don't know about the g37 cam.

the 4g37 head is a direct replacement. and doesnt have the crappy jet valves. but i dunno how that cam is gonna react to our boosted set up. id try to research the cam specs of both motors. they might even be the same cam. who knows? worth searching over though if your in need.

the exhaust manifold, and intake manifold line up, as does the head gasket. what part does not work that you cant use it?

first off you will have very low compression ratio, also im not so sure the oil dranes line up, i do know that i had a long post on this subject not long ago. as for the cam you cant use it because its hydro on the 37. i would say get junk yards head. you would be doing yourself a big favor.

I believe you can interchange the rocker arm assembly between the two heads, or I should say, I sold a rocker arm set from g32b turbo to a member that was planning on using it and the g32b turbo exhaust manifold on his dsm 1.8.

Did all 4g37 have hydrolic lifters? I though the earlier, (90/91) cars where different? Darn I was going to try that 1.8 cam in my 1.6.. :(

as deco said very low compression like 5 to1 or something close to that i dont think ii would have enough compression to even spool the turbo. and yes the rockers and cams will interchange but WHY would you want hydro rockers when you already have the good shit. and futher more im just guessing here but i bet the 4g37 cam has more valve overlap then the g32b cam so again WHY do you want that head and cam combo

read his original post. hes in need of a head, or cam at least. and those are ALOT more common then a g32b. was just a comment. didnt realize they were not usable.
