I just traded my c50 turbo today for a 92 Laser RS, turbo awd 5spd, with the intention to concentrate on one colt, my 89 c10 sedan.
So i now have what i think is everything i need for the swap. A donor car.
It wont be this year though. Still no time, and hopefully, by July, baby will be here. So maybe summer 2010 the swap will happen.
Just thought i would share.

Not worth the time for awd, i already have a subaru.
I like the one wheel terror. Nothing beats the look on ppl's faces as you pass them while burning tires in 2nd or 3rd gear!
The swap should be simple enough.

I know kids are money pits, but one needs a habit or a hobby. So I am choosing to keep the colt as a hobby.

It shouldnt be too bad. I just have to get more efficient. Home reno's under control now, baby will definetely keep me us on our toes, but i figure in a couple of years it should be done.
I am pretty good at making things happen. Once i set myself a due date, i basically cant sleep, and just git er dun.
Since i wont be able to sleep anyway, may as well make use of it.
Got to be optimistic.
2030, no faith, thanks guys :P

no when they make all billet gokart engines that have Ti valves and make over 65 horsepower then you know anything can be done

I am hoping to use the stock colt trany, the km206. I think i would have to use the 1.6 61t Flywheel, or 1.8dohc elantra, which are not stepped.

I have to research about an alternative in case using the km206 will not work with the above mentioned Fw's.
The Laser i have is 5spd awd. Maybe i can use that tranny, i havent seen what it looks like physically. I am trying to keep costs and parts searching to a minimum.

I would also like to try to use the 206 because of not having to change cv shafts.

Any ideas?

if you are planning to use an KM206 tranny you will have to use an 2.0 eclipse non turbo flywheel,, you still can use the mirage 1.6 turbo starter,, this tranny ( km206) is good for acceleration but not for top end,,,,@ at 65mph = 3500 rpm,,

Oscar, i know the 206 has taller gears and 5th will wind out quickly, but i am okay with that. I have had the c-10 up to 110M/h, and it doesnt fee safe at all. I cant imagine it doing 125M/h plus.

I dont want to get into swapping cv shafts and transmissions yet. First i woud like to get it mounted, and running.

What did you have to do with the shifter cables to fit the dsm tranny, as well as he clutch slave/master.

Fuel line? Any modification?
Where did you mount the oil cooler?
What Radiator you using?
Intercooler?
Power steering line, does it reach, any modification required?
Do you have any close/ clear pics of the engine bay?
Which engine mount cross member did you? I assume it to be the colt.

Another reason i would like to keep the 206 is because i have three trannies, and i would like to try the bm lsd insert, if it fits. That way, i wont feel bad about wrecking a tranny. Plus, i can re/re a tranny in less than 2hrs, tops. I know i have done it plenty of times.

I am getting more excited with this swap.
Even though there is tons to do around here. Build a 14x14 shed, do all trim in the house, baseboard and casing, and do up babies room.

The sooner i get this swap done, the sooner i get rid of 100's of g32b parts. I will then have two complete g32b motors than run. That alone will clear my upper section of my garage, and half of my shed.

cheers.
Cha
