Hi all! I'm new!

Just got this '89 Colt 100 DL (Canadian). It's great. :)

G15B engine
5 speed manual
Carbuerated

Actually, I'm not sure what else to say. I've seen C10 floating around, it's certainly that area of body style. But I've seen C12/13 around too, and haven't a clue what difference there is.

And I'm wondering what engines and/or trannies might be direct bolt-on. I'm not a mechanic, but am willing to start. So no machining for me. :D

Here's some pics:

Has anyone done a windshield pull themselves? I've got a line on a free, new windshield. But have no idea how to pull it out.

Also, anyone have headlights? As you can see, one is smashed. The other has a hole and a LOT of moisture. I've emailed coco77 (http://www.4g61t.org/forum/memberlist.p ... le&u=28145), but we'll see.

Welcome,

The c10 is a general term for that platform. c12 and c13 are the actual codes for the hatch and sedans.

Your car looks straight and has nice paint. Pulling a windshield is doable, but I never have. The sanding in Calgary makes having a chip-free windscreen impossible, especially in the spring when it all melts.

There are plenty of C10 at the Calgary Pick N Pull, that headlamp should run about $25.

You can do a 4g63 swap into that car. (Or a 4g32, 4g37, 4g61, 4g64, 4g67) well maybe not the 2.4L, but the 2L DSM engine swap is far by far the most common. You can also upgrade to the MPI version of that 1.5L.

wow. very nice car to start with man. mine was in MUCH worse shape when i started.

your car has the GTS optioned body also. with the shorter bumper's, and side molding on the door. makes it a bit cooler even!

Thanks for the replies!

Cooler? Heehee! I thought it was the cheaper option. GTS means better than regular, usually. But this is just the standard G15B - 1.5L non-turbo.

Unless you're referring to what I know as DL (vs E), which probably covers the power mirrors. Not much else for specials, tho....

But the body is great! The passenger side has a big rust spot above the door handle, but it's pretty good overall! (esp for 89!)

Do you want some factory spoilers and front bumper lip? I have the two hatchback spoilers, lower and upper, and front lip, and only one side skirt( copy it with fibreglass, if you know someone with such skills).

Wow man. I can't believe your car has Mt Akina stickers on it. Those are from Initial D. Haven't seen those in a LONG time.

whoa. it's been a while since I checked here. they're actually Alfa Romeo hubcaps. I just got some 14 inch hyundai rims that look pretty decent.

I'd love the lips/skirts... Is it too late?

I love Initial d. This thing is totally my Levin.

Well, how 'bout an update?

- I got a glass shop to put in a new windshield.
- I got a headlight from ebay.
- I broke the rear hatch window closing it on something that was too big.
- I got a parts car for free, but had nowhere to keep it. So I ripped off the hatch, a bunch of lights and interior bits, and the side windows (front and back).
- Replaced the rear hatch window.
- Bought a set of junkyard Hyundai rims, still need to slap rubber on the one that has a split sidewall.

And now I'm about to replace the tranny, which snaps out of 4th and is starting to grind going into 2nd. Plus, my clutch is starting to slip, so I'm doing that at the same time.

233,000 km, and the engine still seems to be running and starting great! Suspension still seems good, too.

It's gone. I couldn't hang onto it - nowhere for it. It wasn't much anyways. G15B, auto. Sat for years in the country. Rusty, leaky.
Although, I did find several sitting in the PicknPull last time I was there. I'm just 5 hours away from it, that's all. :P
