:o :o :o Also please remove that bag from your battery unless you want to start a fire. When ever you charge your battery (with the alternator), It releases hydrogen gas(the most reactant gas in the universe)as a byproduct through the battery vents. If you keep it trapped under a bag who knows when it's going to catch fire. also hydrogen can spontaneously combust with out a source of ignition, It just has to react with air in the right conditions.

Bag?? Oh yeah thanks, that battery is long gone. It wasn't completely covered/sealed it was just a plastic rap around the top off it. I too thought it was weird being on there.

Just finished up on this upgrade. a TD04 13g from an auto 1g DSM.

The 13G compressor wheel is somewhat bigger than the 9B wheel and has different height fins.
Image

I clocked the compressor housing to point forward and downwards and had the 9b wastegate accutator mounted onto the 13G's compressor housing.

Here's a comparison of the two turbos, both td04 turbines so the auto DSM unit fit right into the CSMs turbine housing.
Image

Here you can see the turbo installed with all the water and oil lines hooked up the td04 13g cartridge is the same in terms of oil and water line as well as fitment into the td04 9b turbine housing.

well. went to the yard and grabbed the intake set up. but my throttle body is different from yours. test fitted it up to my spare rebuilt head, and it fits perfectly. so thats great news.

The throtle body is from a 1 g turbo DSM - FTW.

Make sure you get a intake manifold from a 92+ 4g37. The 90 4g37 did not have the square bolt pattern for the Throttle Body. I'm not sure about a 91 4g37 IM or any other 4g37 equipped Mitsu.

Be sure to grab the complete 4g37 thermostat housing its two pieces. Try and locate one that has two 3/8 NPT outlets the one on the front as well as one underneath. This will make connecting the water line to the turbo easier.

The square TB bolt pattern alows for a 4g63 TB to bolt upto the 4g37 IM. You'l just have to do some porting to get the 4g37 IM to the width of the 4g63 TB.

Carefully port out the IM in a conical shape as there is not enough material on the IM to fully match the TB's width all the way through. I should have took a pic before, sorry.

One more note on the 13g. It's definitely not instant boost as like the 9b there is now some lag, but not to much. However under WOT I see the same if not slightly less boost than the 9b produced, I may try and lengthen the WG actuator arm or close up the MBC some.

I also need to fix up the turbo inlet hosing or snorkel . I made a hybrid setup with a DSM unit and the bottom part of the stock g32b hose. It pretty getto although it looks stock I'm sure I can do better.

xxxmonoxidechild. did you compare the port sizes on the IM and the head. I'm wondering if I'll have to port the head out..?

The TBI to MPI stuff started here. I think I will continue to post info on that in this thread. (BTW I saw your bump there xxxmonoxidechild). I am planing on using the 4g63t ecu/maf/injectors on my g32b. Basically transplanting all the engine managment from a MPI motor into a TBI motor.

I'll begin with the wiring. Its basically what one would do when performing a 4g63t swap. Grab the motor wiring harness from a DSM and put it into a C12/13, its been done and documented. Once the harness is in collect and use a DSM's sensors.

Basically take all the sensor from a 4g63. The CAS/TDCS will be taken care of by a SOHC 4g63/4 dizzy; it fits the g32b head. A 4g15 dizzy from the 8v engine would also work.

The 4g63t TB has the needed IAC/MPS/TPS. Coolant temps sensors are the same. The knock sensor comes on a g32b.

Injectors, the blue ones are pretty common and match the MAF and ECU. The bodies on a 4g37 injector is longer than the 440 blue injectors. I dont know if this will cause any issues.

O/2.... not much to say.

MAF, as DSM one fits the c10s air filter canister. Just need to use backing cover.

That's all I can think of now. I've got it all, even a spare 4g63... I'm using public transit to commute more now to a new job and my wife drives a WRX that I borrow  . I will hopefully start the wiring harness next week....

[edit] I thought of more. The 4g37 fuel rail, get it too and the fuel lines. Also grab a fuel pressure regulator from a 4g63t it fits the 4g37 fuel rail. I haven't thought about the fuel pump....... I need to find out more info on this........ some1 help me out!

[edit2] There is a fuel pressure release solenoid on a 4g63t. I read up on it but forgot why its there. Something to do with hot engine startups.... This should probably be used as well. Also, the boost control solenoid, I don't think the ecu like running without it so it should be included in the the swap.

Lucky for us we are using the full engine harness from a 92 awd, all the connectors are there.

Save me some :drinkers:

This car is done, with me.

I've DD'ed it all winter. Its been having some low oil preasure issues and I did rod bearing last fall. A week ago I was pulling out of a Safeway parking lot when I heard loud clunking noises from the engine area. It stalled and I couldn't get it to start again. I'm fairly certain it's a bottom end issue. Too bad, but I got a lot of use from this sedan and learnt tons from it and molested the hell out of it. The MPI conversion was cool.

It'll be heading to asia to be scrapped and to become bicycles I guess.

I put of 100K Kms on it since I rebuilt the engine, I was hoping for more but ....... end of an era for me. :partyman:
