Hey guys I am not new to the csm scene or to 4g61t, but i haven't been here in a loooong time. Just picked up a beautiful 92 colt with a bad head for $500, finally going to get my 4g63t build off the engine stand and into a hatch where it belongs. I am picking the car up tomorrow and will start a build thread soon. I am a little rusty on the swap subject so i may ask some noob questions if i can't find them in the search. Thanks in advance for the help, I'm looking forward to catching up with some members and meeting all the new ones.

2004 and three posts! Yes, that takes the cake for lowest post to time-in count.

Welcome back.

We have lots of answers to questions. Most of which will likely be correct. wink wink

Feel free to start a build thread and post some pics of your process.

Need motivation for everyone to keep on task with their own projects.

Yeah i didn't use this account much. After my buddy GageGT (pat) passed away i used his account for a while and then kinda drifted away from the csm scene. But his boys are 16 and 14 now and i thought I would get them into the car scene and start teaching them stuff their dad wanted to share with them.

I think that is so cool, thanks for stepping up and doing this for them (and Pat). And welcome back!

So life has a way of throwing a wrench in your plans. But I am finally back at it. Finally I have the time and the budget that will allow this build to happen. I am in the process of collecting the rest of the parts necessary to continue. But my over saturated brain seems to have left gaps in my 20+ year old CSM knowledge. Primarily in the hub/knuckle and axle department. I have been spending a ton of time digging in the archives with little success. I have a complete 1g talon roller and a 92 colt. I know you can use the expo knuckle but cant remember the years I need to be looking for. I vaguely remember something about elantra control arms?... Ideally id like to use the 1g axles since they are easier to come by these days but forget all of the specifics on "this part with that part" stuff. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

92-96 expo knuckles?
Can I Shorten the talon axles?

yeah the expo's in the states only came from 92-96.. so those will work (hubs not spindles)..problem is u cant get them new.. so would have to find a junked one and get them.... when I did my colt back in 2010. I used the 94-97 i think were the years lca's.. the dsm axle is 3mm longer and the elantra lca's is also the same so it works out perfect.

hope this helps..

Mitsubishi direct parts has them listed new. But i found a set of knuckles on ebay. I thought that the magic formula was, expo knuckles, dsm hubs, and elantra arms? Am i wrong? The car is going awd if that changes things.

Thanks for the input. I believe the colt hubs are a different size and style of bearing than the dsm ones. But again I've been out of the game for a long time.
