I've been looking at an f'ing lot of csm type vehicles, and I can't seem to find one I want... I did find a white 1990 galant gsx for 2 large, but I'm not sure if I want awd... I like tiny 2wd cars, and I'm just not really sold on awd, breaking parts seems to be much more expensive. But I did have a gsx galant before and it was an awesome car...

Hard choice to make...

Light, 2wd, lotsa hp and I bog or spin...
traction, awd, hp not so much before I break stuff... plus it's gonna be hard to find another 5.28 fd trans if I break that...

What do you guys think ?

I think you sound like the type of person that wants to blame the car for everything..

I think you need to rethink your post... first off fwd with a stock motor is fun.. add any power to it and it sucks for the streets... 2nd... u will break stuff more on a fwd than awd.. just cause theres more parts doesnt mean they will break... so to explain this.. if you have a 500 hp motor in a fwd u will be breaking shit like crazy... now put that same 500 hp motor into a awd car and the power is more distributed... yes you will still break parts if you drive it hard.. but you wont break as many as if it was fwd...

I've had fwd na and fwd boosted, awd na and awd boosted. I'm just really trying to find something to tinker on, as I sit around all day not doing much. I am really going for a 3gn fwd dsm-able car, something light weight and easy to work on, a car that I can drive around until I get the drivetrain together to swap into it. Sorry for the nOOb bOOb statements. But it's been 3 years since I have had the money to be able to start a serious project, and I'm just a little excited.

Sorry for the nOOb ish statements... been a long time since I've had the money to really be able to pursue a project with more then 150 hp. I'm basically looking for any late 80's - early 90's fwd car that can be 4g63 swapped. I've worked on 96-99 dodge/plymouth neons the most. But I'm not wanting to spend the money on the platform anymore. Would love to have a colt or a colt vista. Onwards !!!

Welcome,
I think you have already made up your mind on FWD/AWD but here is my 2 cents..... for what it's worth.

I did FWD turbo on a 84 Escort. It was fun to drive but as HP went up (remember I am talking a crappy Escort 1.9 CVH, not a 4G63 with it's potential) it got less fun to drive and eventually it got sometimes scary. I started breaking axles regularly and at the drags it was hard to launch. Not enough boost and bog, too much and I blew the tires off. i went to Drag radials and broke more stuff.

I then did a AWD CSM and I love it. Way more HP AND traction. I love this car, Great traction, Corners well and no blowing a front tire off at the wrong time.

Now with all this said, If you are swapping a CSM I would say stay FWD. It is a lot of work to AWD and even more to do it correctly. I Know i had the longest builds on this site. I have seen pictures from some of the AWD swaps and it's somewhat scary! Unless you are good welder and fabricator stay to the bolt in swaps.
Good luck!
Mark

A 63t'd CSM with a stock motor and boost turned up to 18lbs is tons of fun.
