Hey Guys
My name is Chris I live just south of Seattle in Federal Way Wa. My wife and I have been autocrossing an Evo 9 in STU for the last three years, " she was the 2012 STU Ladies SCCA National champion, and I have won 2 regional jackets in the last three season. Anyway we sold the Evo about two weeks ago, as we are moving on to autocrossing a base mini cooper in STF for the next few season. Long story short one of my friends I met through autocross is Darrin B, I got to know him and his wife over the past few years. They are great people and huge Mitsu fans, in fact at one of his first autocross he ask me to drive the "angry bird", I kinda of knew what it was but not totally.
Fast forward a year and half, he post on face book that its for sale and I tell me wife she should buy it as a d.d. A few weeks later I'm over at Darrin's and we are wrenching on my Evo to take it back to stock to sell it. He tells me to go drive the mirage and check it out, of course we go flog on it and its a hoot. All the while he is telling me a guy in Portland put money down on it and that it is most likely sold.
I'm like well I have the money if he backs out, but its likely sold. So I totally forget about the angry bird, not know the whole time my kick ass wife was working a deal behind the scenes to buy the car. That's why Darrin had me test drive it, to tell her if I really liked it.
Fast forward again to December 24th, I have been working swing shifts for work, so I wake up around 9 am that morning just having my first cup of coffee and I hear an rumbling exhaust look out the window and see a red car, so I figure its one of the neighbor kids stopping by to show me his new car. I open the door and its my wife, and Im like where's your Mini? and she say " surprise I bought you the angry bird for Christmas" and of course my jaw drops. So yea that's how I got my first 1989 Mirage turbo hatch. I went a whole two weeks without a turbo car, not counting the cummins.
It has just a tick over a 100k and the original 4g61t, its red and pretty much bone stock inside, the motor has been modied a bit, and it boogies. I need to talk with Darrin to get the specs, but I think an evo 3 turbo and maf translator and fmic for sure. Its definitely a blast to boost through town. Looking at the registry it is car #64.
Thanks
