cut it up and make a pickup truck out of it.... jk,

if it was awd i would swap it and keep it till I die.. right now im not sure what I want to do..possibly search for a awd 3 door..and see if they want to trade... maybe swap it anyways and see how bad traction is and possibly sell it.... the motor i am outting together will be between 400-450 hp.. and my lil 200 hp in my mirage sucks as fwd..so not sure I will like 450 fwd much..

I am pretty sure that you can do 2G style of AWD conversion on these cars. All you need is a donor car.

1st step is get under the rear and see what provisions, if any, there are for the AWD stuff. I would DEFINITELY go AWD if you're looking to make that much power. Otherwise the only way you'll have any usable traction is with some sticky sticky tires (possibly only slicks). Keep us updated!

the 1.8 im pretty sure have a smooth valve cover.. spark plugs ar in the back and dist is on pass side... the 2.4's have plugs in front and dist on d/s rear of block... I could be wrong tho.

Steve

You just described the difference between a 6bolt and 7bolt 2.4 and the only reason I know is because I have both lol . My 92 6 bolt 2.4 looks just like his and and my 94 7 bolt 2.4 has smooth valve cover , plugs in back and dist on passenger side. 92 was the only year of these vans that had the 6bolt I believe

while checking the gas tank for another member on here I decided to put my lowering springs on the front of the van.. when I got in there i noticed it had kyb g2 struts on it.. I knew it had new g2 rears.. but the fronts were so greasy u couldnt see they were silver in color so I assumed they were stock...

so i measured the front before and after just to compare it... started out with 3" gap on P/S.. and 2 1/2" on D/S... not sure why there not even.. after measurements were 1" D/S... and 1 3/8" P/S.

looks kinda funny with the 4-5" gap in the rear still lol.. here are some pics.

After

here is the rear as it stands LOL

Here is the difference between the 2 springs..Stock vs 1g dsm eibachs

now to figure out a good spring rate and the correct length springs for the rears then ill be good to go.

so im stripping and selling the mirage off and decided since i cant find a definite answer about the dohc swap (comp wise) that I would just drop the 4g61 in it..
seems all the info I find is telling me to rebuild with new pistons for the turbo.. I want to stay N/A and just drop the head on but no info on that.. i even emailed project zero guys and they couldnt help.
the mirage ran good but a little sluggish cause of the auto..so i think with a 14b and the manual trans it should do alot better... once I start on this later this summer i will start a build thread.. gonna need a few parts in the coming months like a stock 61 ecu and injectors..
