I found a 5spd 95 Summit van. It's a DL and it's fwd.

If I'm to find an awd, will it bolt right up?

Like many other Mitsu's that had a FWD & AWD in the same lineup they are completely different. The floor pans and all are different. If its an AWD you're after, hold out for a factory equipped AWD.

But... 2G DSMs is an exception to this "rule of thumb" (people, myself included, often perform AWD conversions!) and since these vans are a mixture of 1G and 2G features, I wouldn't be shocked if you COULD perform such swap!

I never looked under the FWD van, does have a driveshaft tunnel?

One positive of such swap would be the carrier bearing attachments, vans have two piece driveshaft, so there is only one carrier bearing ;)

Generally, I agree with you, but these AWD vans are SO freaking rare! So, if you find a nice, rust free FWD van, it might worth it!

The thing is you'd still have to find the AWD parts to do the swap and they won't be cheap, especially if shipping is involved. Even if the floor pan is similar it won't be the same, therefore it won't "bolt up" like he asked. Could it be done, sure. Would it be easier to hold out for a factory AWD model, I guarantee it will.

A few years ago I had a super clean 92 AWD with a 6 bolt 4G64, the rarest of them all IMO. It took me 3 months to get $1700 for it and it ran and drove great. There was a super nice white one down in Texas that eventually sold on here about a year ago and it took the PO a good while to sell it too. The AWD models are not around every corner but they're not impossible to find either.

hi there I 95% sure that the awd sub frame will fit in a fwd on as the sub frame are the same only the trailing arms are different so the mounting point are the same so I believe that the swap would be much easer the csm colt but getting the parts will be hard as dsm would wount fit

other then that you need the a awd sub frame awd gas tank drive shaft awd trany also a wielder to make the mounting piont for the drive shaft and mustache bar

Or you can come to the Midwest and tow one back... I have a 93 awd summit I will sell. I am a little proud of the price (compared to forum prices). I have a buddy that really wants it, but he wont have cash for months unless his tax return is as big as he imagines it to be.
