Thanks Tony!!!

That explains a lot of stuff about the engine.

Quick question in Illinois it's easy to get parts for those cars?

Thanks

hi Micah, thanks for your response.

4G64 is a 2.4 right?

I bought one Colt Vista 91 2.0 AWD but I can't find what engine it's, someone saids 4G63, other one saids G63, now it looks like 4G64....

There is any easy way to find it out?

Thanks,
4G64 is 2.4L. If it's a 2.0L then it is a 4G63, but the single-cam version.

I've never known those cars to come with a 2.0L in the US. Usually it's the 1.8L or 2.4L. The SOHC 4G63 is not very common, so it would depend on what kind of parts you needed.

He said he had a 91 so I'm betting it's the older square body style. They came with the same SOHC 4G63 that the base model 89-92 Galants had.

Ahh, good point. Rare car. I still think parts will be hard to find.

Check out his location (Costa Rico), who knows what they usually have there ;).

But I always thought that in US they used 2.4 in '91.

Yeah, who knows? Best thing would be to look at the plate on the firewall and get the engine code. If he does have the older square body style I think I've seen like 4 in the junkyards around here in the last 5 years so parts will be pretty hard to find I'm sure.

I've heard of the mythical beast known as the 4G63 SOHC but I've never seen one. I'm sure that this is a rhetorical question but has anyone seen one of the SOHC motors built or turboed? It's like they say, "there's an ass for every seat." Hell, I've even seen the engines that came in the base model CRX (d15b2) modified. When I first built my 89 CRX DX I used the d15b2 block and put a d16a6 head on it with MPFI because the b2 came with TBI.
BTW, sorry to hijack your thread.
