The clutch is jacked (I think), I did a basic tune with my dad and drove it up and down the street. It was kind of a pita since I had to constantly pump the clutch to even get it to engage. spools nice but needs a serious tune beyond the eprom. Will be fun when the clutch/trans is fixed.

Good to see an update. Its looking real good too. Hows that tach working out? Let me guess its only reading half what its supposed to right? This is what my tach did in my van, and the reason i swapped in the dsm tach.

Tach seems to work great. You need the OR gate like Micah showed in the pics.

Isnt that just a 90 tach filter/ resistor/ whatever? Cause thats what mine has too. It didnt work for me. I guess ill go to the wrecker and grab another stock cluster, and try to get stocker working. I would like to get to the bottom of this. Its a known good tack/ filter its straight off my 90 colt swap

You must have it wired wrong.

It's all together but the clutch won't disengage unless you pump it and it's ALL the way to the floor. I drove it up and down the street but that's it. I think it needs a new clutch, we never separated the trans from the engine when we dropped it in. Thoughts? Just an adjustment issue?

To be honest I haven't spent even 1 minute trying to figure out what deal is..

Clutch pedal, clutch slave, clutch master. Inspect in that order. LOL

the pedal seems to rebound fine (only dropped and stayed on the floor when we were bleeding it). the pedal engages about 1/2" off the floor and i noticed a similar engagement point when i was moving the donor car so i think we'll start with everything on that side of the equation (i.e. clutch slave, clutch/trans).

that being said, im going to change the clutch slave today since that a relatively easy one. if that doesnt fix it we'll probably pull the trans and look at the clutch itself since i have an ACT flywheel to put in and was thinking of getting an ACT 2600 anyway.

updates to follow.

DSM AWD clutch/flywheel used for the stock trans?

Did you guys try to adjust the rod to get more travel?

Engage or disengage? If you could not get it to engage, unless its horribly mistrusted you simply need a new clutch!

Get to it.

i did a few days ago but am going to try that again today. hopefully we can figure this out better w/ two bodies (one to push the pedal and one to check the movement of the slave cylinder, etc).

You must have it wired wrong.

I dont know how thats possible but youre probably right. I tested it with a 90 dsm cluster (ran power, ground and tach signal) inside the cab of the van to ensure i had the wiring proper. ( the coilpack is a 90 unit with built in resistor) Then did same thing with van cluster and it read half of what it should on the tach, as if the signal needs to be amplified somehow.

I just feel bad if i misinformed people about the tach not working, i did go to a good deal of effort to get it working.

The module is an OR gate so it effectively doubles the tach pulses. It's not a weak signal, just a digital pulse and your tach was only getting half the pulses.

We just adjusted the clutch at the master and now it's drivable. Woot. Runs nice needs a read motor mount and a tune...
