Bummer, I had a lengthy search for a cover. I finally found one, but it wasn't cheap or easy. And now, I have to fix all the little scratches in it.

I am also debating if I should add holes to aid FMIC cooling?

Has anyone done it on a wagon?

These are so ugly. I think you can do better. Youre going to have to blaze the trail on this one. I couldnt think of an easy way to do it or i would have done it already. Some custom work would be required to make a bigger hole look factory, or some REAL precise work with the drill and a jigsaw to put a bunch of slotted holes above the stock opening. But it would unfortunately would only look stock from 20 feet away. Up close would be hack.

I actually like the base front cover that you show above (without the spoiler on the bottom). But this is a mute point, these front bumpers are very rare and expensive (~$500 for the cover and then ~$500 to ship it here from Asia, Australia or NZ) So I am not even going to consider it :(.

I know how to properly cut the bumper, I am just curious if anyone has done it, so that I can see the way it looks ;)

if you need some ideas on how to cut it these pics might offer some. id like to look as stock as possible but if i could find a JDM front bumper cover like the one pictured below (for a decent price and minus the crazy grill protector in the second pic) i wouldnt mind having one. probably not a necessity by any means. you should measure your intake air temps and see if you even need to do any cutting...it might not make a big difference.

With 14b, intake temps are extremely low (75-90F). From my DSM experience, the real problem is with the radiator being blocked by a hot intercoler and consenquent overheating. But this might not be a problem on a Summit, which has an actual radiator grill.

The only reason why I am considering doing this now, is because I am doing bodywork on my new bumper cover, so timing is right.

But I have been considering making slots that are found that first car.

Wonder if the Subaru bumper will fit the wagons like it does on the 3g csm's? It looks better and has a larger cutout stock for a fmic.

I wasn't going to do it, but I am weak :) I ended up making 3 rectangular cuts with rounded corners:

I will update this thread when I get it installed on the Summit. The plan is have black pastic mesh behing it.

Im impressed. That looks great. It will look still stock to most people from even fairly close up. You did a very precise job cutting that out as well.

Thanks! I drilled four corner holes (using 1" hole saw) and then connected them with straight lines, using a cutting tool (which pretty much melted its way through the plastic).

I'm digging the cut bumper. I think it will look really good.
