Hello, Can someone please tell me what other tranny will bolt on to my 1.8L 1992 Colt Vista wagon, besides that original 5 speed tranny that I have a which is F5M222XNXL. the input shaft casing broke on mine were the release bearing sits, so its not repairable anymore. I saw a 90 laser tranny, but it doesn't have a provision to mount the front tranny bracket.

Any information is appreciated, and if you have a stock tranny that will fit, just let me know, I would like to buy it, im here in So.California.

thank you.

Thank you for the information, I guess both cars are not easy to find here locally.

I've seen way more 1.8L mirages than I have 1.8L wagons, that's for sure.

It will bolt up to your engine but it only has one mount which is on the top. Your transmission has 3 mounts on it. If you can fabricate mounts it will work but you'd probably be better off finding a transmission that simply bolts in. There were 2-3 LS mirages in the local yards about 6 months ago but they've all been crushed. I can keep an eye out for you but you'd be looking at $200 for the trans plus another $100+ for shipping. Not sure what you want to put into one.

I think its better if I get a hold of a stock one, so I don't need to do any fabrication. Thank you, Its been like 2 weeks im out of car, I didn't know that these are difficult to find. Haha. But I figured that, Im looking around $300 or so, so please let me know if you find one, let me know.

thank you for your time.

jojo, can you give me the production date of your vehicle?
does anyone know for sure if all these vans have the roll stop mounts on the trans? or do the early 92 6 bolts have mounts on block? or is there no 6 bolts?

92's were normally 6-bolts if they were the 2.4. The front mount is on the tranny, the rear on the block (at least on the Auto). Very strange setup for sure. For 93 they were straight-up 2g DSM; 3 on the tranny, one on the 4g64.

Like Thom said, the 92's with the 2.4 used a 6 bolt engine. I had a manual AWD 92 and both mounts were on the engine block I believe. Micah has a build on here with some good pics but his started as an auto. I pulled a x-member from a FWD auto 92 model at the JY and both mounts were on the engine block.

Edit: Thom, I grabbed this pic from Micah's 92 AWD auto and his had the mount on the trans.

Yea. Robert's Summit (92) had the front mount on the tranny and the rear mount on the block. But I did see that the plate the rear tranny mount is on is removable, so it could be swapped over to a 93 tranny maybe? Almost looked into it, but then traded my summit project for a built motor :)

Yeah who knows with these things. So many weird quirks with them.

I believe the tranny change was 1992.5 just like 1G had changed to 7B?
