Haven't taken the car for a spin yet. Waiting for the g/f to get home so she can help me bleed them. Install was straight forward and took about two hours. Yeah, I'm slow. But with each wheel I made less and less of a mess. Yay for me!

A friend of mine added stainless steel brake lines to his Eclipse AWD. The before and after was awesome. Honestly it was as if he has added 2 piston calipers to the car. As for pedal feel alittle touchy compared to stock.

The brake lines are specific for the '89 Mirage Turbo.

Took the car for a quick spin tonight. Am pleased with the results. My test drive wasn't very long so the brake pads didn't really get a chance to warm up (Axxis MetalMasters). But the last quick stop before I turned down my road I swear I heard the tires actually gripping the road coming to almost a stop from 35mph with definately less pedal effort. But it almost seems like there is more travel from the all the way up position to were the brakes start to grab. But I think it's more me and driving my Tacoma pickup the last few days and just getting used to the brakes again as the pedal feel, travel and response is definately different.

With what little chance I have had to test them out, I would buy them again. I'm sure the more I drive it the more I will like them too. The next autocross is in a couple weeks so they will get a real test then.

Sounds good. Do you have that part number for that kit?

Just a suggestion, you might want to bleed your brakes again, since you replaced all the lines. That additional travel feeling might be an air bubble. Gravity bleed the brakes takes longer but will get the job done.

RRE said the same part number for 1st Gen DSM AWD is for the Mirage Turbo.

I will have to see if I can find the packing slip to get the part number. But if you go to TireRack.com, plug in you have an '89 Mirage Turbo and go to brakes, then either street or autocross and they will come up. They are made by Goodridge obviously and are DOT approved.

I bled the brakes first using a vacuum pump, then secondly with the typical two person push the brake pedeal and release while I crack open the bleeder. No longer than it takes I may bleed them again this weekend just to be sure.

bringing a nearly dead topic back alive....

I noticed mysteryman made this post:

This statement is incorrect. I just bought my lines through RRE, and Mike W. (pedal car) custom made a set for a mirage turbo. The front lines 'may' be the same as a DSM, but the rears are not.
Just wanted to clear this up so nobody runs into any unexpected snags on their own projects.

Paul A.

Post subject:  Stainless Steel Brakes Lines from DSS

netninja clears up some misconception:
Quote:
As far as I know, the 1G lines don't work for whatever reason. My question is whether or not DSS is still around. I heard something a few months ago that they weren't around anymore, if so, that sucks :-? Can anyone confirm this? Yes, I am too lazy to get off my ass and call. lol!
EDIT
Just called DSS and they are still around! They were having problems a while ago, but everything is back up and running now. Even though the guy that designed the coilovers went to germany, they are still making them for our cars. They also are still selling the Stainless Steel lines for our cars too; same price as the 1G DSM ones, just FYI.

coltKalle recently sent PaulMezz an email concerning what he had found with regards to stainless brake lines for our little CSM's. He wrote the following:

I was curious about the Stainless Steel Brakes Lines and went to TireRack, plugged in the 89 Mirage turbo and got the following on brakelines: Not Available..... but read on to the next post.

I just checked and tirerack lists the original kit as still for sale. $230 as of the time of this post.
